Delete "Myths, Illusions, & Peace" section

[edit]

I propose deleting the "Myths, Illusions, & Peace" section, because it is a textbook example of WP:PEACOCK. It's simply a collection of book blurbs, which are not usually too informative. and which are not informative here. All it tells you is that some big shots such as Madeleine K. Albright, etc., said that they liked it. To me as a non-specialist Wikipedia reader, it tells me nothing about the contents of the book what one or more of the important points are, or why I should read it. I would be better off (and the entry would be better off) replacing this section with book reviews. Ideally, I'd like to know what Makovsky's ideas are. Does he believe in a one-state solution, a two-state solution, or a continuation of apartheid? Does he believe in foreign aid or private business developments?

Now that I read the entry again, I see that the whole thing is a CV with bibliography, padded out with platitudes. "The Washington Institute has a senior research staff whose expertise cover a wide variety of the issues relevant in the Middle East, including political, military, security, and economic issues." Really, this says nothing. We're living in a dangerous world and we have a vital need for useful information to get through it alive. This is just noise.

I'd like to see one good idea that Makovsky has put forth. I came here hoping to find an introduction to Makovsky's work. Maybe after I've done the rest of my research I'll be able to come back with more to say. Nbauman (talk) 00:03, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I just read the The Washington Institute for Near East Policy page. AIPAC. Al Jazeera. Mearsheimer and Walt. Got it. Nbauman (talk) 00:10, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
